Peace of mind is priceless, time is gold...

Health Is Wealth

Original Gain$ta was initially formed to offer clothing and accessories to the urban fitness community. Then we realized another critical void needed to be addressed; financial literacy. Now it's time to get back to the basics. We're excited to share fitness facts and tips to help people thrive!

The truth hurts

You're entitled to your own opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts!

It's imperative that we get active and adopt a healthy lifestyle, especially in the urban community. Observe the stats!

  • Obesity is becoming a major worldwide epidemic accounting for over 300,000 deaths per year
  • Obesity can shorten life expectancy by 10 years
  • About 41% of Americans are obese
  • African Americans have the highest rate of obesity at about 48%
  • African American women are the most obese (56% black women and 23% black men)
  • Obese and morbidly obese people are more likely to experience health risks like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, sleep apnea, etc.

Our health and wellness isn't just a matter of vanity, it could be a matter of life and death. Health is wealth. Let's get active!

Cut the c.r.a.p. Out of your diet

Carbs

Refined Sugars

Refined Sugars

Foods high in refined carbohydrates and added sugars are generally best to avoid or limit on a low-carb diet, as they can lead to rapid blood sugar spikes and offer little nutritional value. These include sugary drinks, white bread, white rice, pasta, pastries, and sugary cereals.

Refined Sugars

Refined Sugars

Refined Sugars

Reduce the intake of white sugar, brown sugar, coconut sugar, palm sugar, and high-fructose corn syrup. These sugars may come from plants, but they have been processed in some way to create a simple, sweet form.  Candies, cakes, cookies, pastries, sweet sodas and juices contain refined sugars and should only be enjoyed in moderation.

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial Sweeteners

Don't be fooled by "sugar free" labels! It's not as healthy as you think. Some artificial sweeteners are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as food additives like saccharin, aspartame, acesulfame potassium (acesulfame-K, or Ace-K), sucralose, neotame, and advantame. Common foods containing artificial sweeteners are sugar free sodas, juices and candy and table top packets like Sweet N Low, Equal and Splenda.

Processed Food

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial Sweeteners

It's hard to avoid processed food all together, unless you own a farm. We want to reduce the intake of heavy processed food like french fries, candy, store-bought cookies, soft drinks, refined grain pretzels, commercial bread, sweetened breakfast cereals, etc. Fast food is typically ultra processed and should be avoided as much as possible.
